hiking - kayaking in one day

These are some shots from a day hike-kayaking trip that I did with Jeff, Ana and Charles. We went for a hike to the chief in squamish then in the afternoon a kayaking trip in Indian Arm. Good times, good times!!!

Today I finally had the chance to go out in almost a week, also the first day taking the new fixie out for a ride. I've decided to leave behind the confy commuter bicycle with the 8 speed Shimano alfine hub for a hybrid fixie bike, built from a 29er mtb frame, this will mean that my commute will go from 32kms a day to 44kms a day since I will avoid the big hills of Burnaby. While this ride offers great views of the Fraser river along the New Westminster's Quay, it will represent more time and more commitment to my daily commute.

I was asked why would I want to make it harder, I guess there is no reason, just the feeling of being challenged in a different way, at a mucm more simplier and intimate way.... The next two pics were taken with my mobile, lots of frosting and sleepery conditions on the Quay. I hope you enjoy.

winter is here

After months of wait is over, winter is here, snowboard and snowshoes are ready.... This past weekend we went to Grouse to do some snowshoeing, we got the change of seeing the two Grisly bears in action getting ready for the winter. I've got the chance to play with some of the filters of the new Camera, I think I've got some nice shots.

Here are a couple of shots of Vancouver at night. I was lucky that Sofia's dentist has an office at the 18th floor with these amazing views of the city. Next pictures will be with a nice white snowy peaks on the back. Snow is falling and the family and me are expecting to go skiing/snowboarding within the next few days.... More pics to come soon.

Fall is here

Tomorrow I'm traveling to California, so before the colors of the fall are gone, we went out on a rainy day to take some pictures. First we went for a nice and warm White Chocolate Mocca, then we headed to Rocky Point in Port Moody. The day was cold and wet, but I think we've got some nice pictures to remember... The first pic from Sofia is outside the house, before she escape from us, going with her friends.

The chief Skugaid

Last week I had the chance to meet David, he's the skipper of the Chief Skugaid, the oldest fishing vessel in BC, he bought the boat last year as a personal project, he has invited me to stop by and take some shots, which I think really interesting. He was anchored at New Westminster with his two dogs. I looked on the internet and found some pages making reference to the boat, built in BC back in 1913, this means that is now 99 years old.... He's in the process of remodeling - renewing the deck, I will try to hook up with him next year once the work is completed. Another interesting project to work on.... This is the kind of people that you get to know when you ride a bicycle, he is also a cyclist which I think is a funny coincidence....

Awesome day at Buntzen lake, we went for a short hike to the north beach with the kids, this is a 8km hike ( round trip ), this time of year is great because is not really busy and having the change to see the leaves on the trees changing is always a great experience.

This is Yuri and Sofia in one of the lookouts, amazing views of the lake.
